For the second time in a few weeks, the remaining members of Nirvana — drummer Dave Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic, and guitarist Pat Smear — gathered for an all-star reunion performance.
The latest took place on Friday night at Radio City Music Hall in New York City as part of the star-studded SNL 50 concert event honoring the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live.
But while the FireAid concert appearance in Los Angeles on Jan. 30 featured a few different vocalists (Kim Gordon, St. Vincent, Joan Jett, and Violet Grohl), the SNL 50 set saw rapper Post Malone take the stage in tribute to Kurt Cobain to play guitar and sing “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” (It was a reprisal of sorts of Malone’s 2020 live stream Nirvana set which then featured drummer Travis Barker).
Here are some clips of the “Post Nirvana” performance — as the group was introduced by Adam Sandler:

Other musical highlights from the SNL 50 concert event featured David Byrne and Robyn teaming up on Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own,” backed by The Roots. They also performed Talking Heads‘ “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)”:

Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder also turned up a few times, and the show’s finale was a fiery performance from Jack White and his band, who covered Neil Young‘s “Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World” and White’s “Seven Nation Army” to wrap the proceedings — watch these and other performances over on Peacock, which exclusively streamed the live event.
