Watch a New Video for a Reimagined ‘Wild World’ from Yusuf/Cat Stevens & ‘Tea for the Tillerman²’

Last month, Yusuf/Cat Stevens commemorated the 50th anniversary of his seminal 1970 album Tea for the Tillerman with Tea for the Tillerman², a captivating reimagining of the original album.

Along the way to the album’s release, the legendary singer/songwriter shared new videos for some of the album’s classic tracks, and the latest is “Wild World.”
Premiered on Thursday, the artsy video (described in a news release as a blend of Wes Anderson, “Casablanca” and Bugsy Mallone) features some child actors caught up in game of Blackjack, among other engaging imagery and themes.
Watch it below:
Said Yusuf/Cat Stevens of the “Wild World” clip:
“The film shows how much we need art to direct our thoughts sometimes towards inexpressible goals; to relive early childlike innocence and keep our eyes of hope open beyond the clouds of war and material darknesses.”
Yusuf/Cat Stevens spoke with Rock Cellar’s Ken Sharp in a new feature interview last month — click here to read it in its entirety — and he shed some light on what brought about this innovative way to celebrate Tea for the Tillerman‘s anniversary:
“Well, it was kind of logical in a way because the fiftieth anniversary of its release was coming up.
So we’re now in 2020 and my son and I were discussing ideas. He came up with the idea of perhaps recording the whole thing again. He probably wasn’t serious but I said, “Yeah, that’s a really great idea.”
The end result is a captivating listen from one of the most cherished singer/songwriters of all time.
Here’s a gorgeous animated video for a new version of “Father and Son,” pairing Stevens’ current voice with a recording from 1970:
