‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Will Play Ted Nugent on Quibi’s ‘Reno 911!’ Revival and His On-Screen Depiction is Startling

On May 4, the new mobile streaming platform Quibi will premiere a new Reno 911! revival series, bringing Thomas Lennon’s Deputy Dangle and the misfit police force back to the (small) screen. Among the special guests that will inevitably take part in the new series is ‘Weird’ Al Yankovic, who is apparently playing rock and roll icon/opinionated rabble-rouser Ted Nugent.
Yankovic’s Nuge is briefly visible in the series’ trailer:
For a longer look, check out this Instagram post from Yankovic (and scroll to the right):
That’s eerie, right? Weird Al channeling Ted Nugent like this probably isn’t something you’d expect, and yet he pulls it off so well. Then again, the man is a music/comedy icon for a reason, always more than able to embody the subject of his latest parody to a thorough degree.

Yankovic has popped up a few times over the past few weeks, keeping himself busy amid the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown with an amusing performance on The Tonight Show:
He also brought some catharsis to the chaos with an accordion rendition of “Classical Gas” on his back porch overlooking lush Southern California greenery:
Wherever there’s a need for levity, ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic is on it.
