Listen to 'Weird Al' Yankovic's Previously Unheard 'Pac-Man,' a Parody of the Beatles' 'Taxman'
Over the decades, “Weird Al” Yankovic has etched his place in music and pop culture history with now-classic comedy albums featuring inventive parodies and inspired original compositions.
Next November, a special career-spanning box set celebrating his entire catalog will be released in limited quantities. Titled Squeeze Box: The Complete Works of “Weird Al” Yankovic, the set is up for pre-order at PledgeMusic right now (for a limited time).
On Friday, Al (finally) released a recording nobody had ever heard before — and it’s a parody of a Beatles song, too! Titled “Pac-Man,” it’s a send-up of the Fab Four’s “Taxman,” finally being released for this box set. As Al explained:
This was recorded in a garage on a 4-track cassette Portastudio way back in 1981, after “My Bologna” and “Another One Rides the Bus” but before I had landed a real record deal. Now the song is finally getting a proper release as a track on the rarities disc in my upcoming box set, with the permission and blessing of the George Harrison estate (Thanks, Dhani & Olivia!).
Listen below, and don’t sleep on this Squeeze Box set if you’re an Al completist!
Please, stay Weird!!!
