‘Weird Al’ Yankovic’s ‘One More Minute’ is the Perfect Social Distancing Anthem, As He Demonstrated on ‘The Tonight Show’

If you aren’t well-versed in the entire catalog of “Weird Al” Yankovic, you’re missing out on some real, hardcore entertainment. His classic albums find the musician/comedian trying all sorts of things beyond the obvious covers of pop/rock classics of their day, with his ‘original songs’ quite often being style parodies themselves.

Nestled on Yankovic’s third album, 1985’s Dare to Be Stupid, is the track “One More Minute.” A breakup song with an edge, it’s a delightfully twisted little song that seems somewhat relevant given the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing that we’re currently dealing with.

Fully aware of this, “Weird Al” appeared on Monday night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon — via satellite, naturally, as there is no show taking place in Fallon’s studio right now — for an a cappella version of “One More Minute,” set to Yankovic’s own backing vocal tracks.
