Weezer launched an ambitious and typically quirky project with the release of SZNZ: Spring, the first of four-part seasonal EP series from Rivers Cuomo and his musical pals that was partially inspired by Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. After that one came Summer, a new set of songs that landed in June.

As evidenced by the dip in temperatures that some areas across the country may be experiencing right now, not to mention the return of Pumpkin Spice everything, Autumn is here. Just in time for the Autumnal Equinox (which lands today, Sept. 22), Weezer has now unleashed the next installment in the SZNZ series: Autumn.

Weezer previewed the set with a performance of “What Happens After You?” on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night, the latest in the band’s seasonal residency on the program:

A news release characterizes Autumn as showcasing “a more dance-rock inspired side of the band, leaning into the synth-driven, dance floor-creating, #indiesleaze sounds of the early to mid-Aughts,” and that’s certainly accurate — but there’s also some slight undercurrents of that “classic” Weezer sound peppered in, which ought to intrigue longtime fans.

Weezer is Brian Bell (backing vocals, guitar), Rivers Cuomo (vocals, guitar, piano), Scott Shriner (backing vocals, bass), and Pat Wilson (drums).

For those eager to stay up to date with the SZNZ project, there’s a handy Spotify mix of each of the three EPs released thus far.

All that’s left on the schedule is SZNZ: Winter, which doesn’t have a concrete release date yet … but, of course, the Winter Solstice takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Stay tuned …
