On June 12, a highly anticipated film will be made available on Netflix, when famed director Martin Scorsese releases Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story.

In the works and rumors for a while, this looks to be quite a crucial viewing for fans of Dylan, whose music and lyrics have spanned decades, his influence as far-reaching as any to ever pick up an instrument.

Here’s the film’s first official trailer, which premiered this week:

And a bit about the film, from its official synopsis:

ROLLING THUNDER REVUE: A BOB DYLAN STORY BY MARTIN SCORSESE captures the troubled spirit of America in 1975, and the joyous music that Bob Dylan performed that fall. Master filmmaker Martin Scorsese creates a one-of-a-kind movie experience: part documentary, part concert film, part fever dream. Featuring Joan Baez, Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, Sam Shepard, Allen Ginsberg, and Bob Dylan giving his first on-camera interview in over a decade. The film goes beyond mere reclamation of Dylan’s extraordinary music—it’s a roadmap into the wild country of artistic self-reinvention.

The film’s release coincides with a special new box set, and Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings will serve as a companion piece to the film:

The 14-CD set features all five professionally recorded shows from the first leg of the tour, plus rehearsal performances and rarities.

The special 14-CD Ultimate Bundle is available in limited quantities (more info here), while the standard 14-CD and vinyl edition are also up for pre-order now.

Busy times for Bob …
