Third Eye Blind Commemorating 25th Anniversary with ‘Summer Gods’ Tour ft. Taking Back Sunday & Hockey Dad

Stephan Jenkins and Third Eye Blind will commemorate 25 years since the release of the band’s breakthrough 1997 self-titled album with a special tour this summer. Officially announced on Monday, the Summer Gods Tour features Taking Back Sunday and special guests Hockey Dad, a rather eclectic arrangement of acts sharing the stage.
“Twenty-five years of Third Eye Blind finds us feeling glorious as if everything is coming into deeper focus,” says Stephan Jenkins. “It’s not lost on us that this is a miracle, and that we are in it because of the new fans that keep discovering us and the people who, over the years, have made our music part of their culture.”
“In the early days of Taking Back Sunday, Adam and I used to drive around in his old Honda listening to Third Eye Blind’s second album, Blue; windows down, smoking cigarettes and singing along,” said John Nolan. “If someone had told us back then that one day we’d tour together, it would’ve blown our minds. We’re so excited to be out with Third Eye Blind this summer, singing our songs and singing along with theirs.”

Pairing Third Eye Blind with Taking Back Sunday should make for an interesting run of shows, as each band comes from a particular background (Third Eye Blind in the ’90s alt/rock world and Taking Back Sunday more in the punk/emo world of the early 2000s), but both remain active to this day — elevating this to more than a pure “nostalgia” tour.
Third Eye Blind’s most recent album was Our Bande Apart, which came out in September of 2021. Taking Back Sunday’s most recent effort is 2016’s Tidal Wave.
