The Strokes Announce a Handful of Shows in Spring 2020, with New Album On the Way

Slowly but surely, the Strokes are getting back to business after a few years away. The esteemed NYC indie/rock band has a new album coming out sometime in 2020 — hopefully — and this week announced a handful of live shows in North America this March.

The dates and venues:

March 5 Vancouver, BC Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena*
March 9 Seattle, WA WaMu Theater*
March 14 Los Angeles, CA The Forum*†

While not a full-on tour, that’s at least something for fans to get excited about. So is this, a new song titled “Ode to the Mets” that Julian Casablancas and the band debuted at a New Year’s Eve gig at Barclays Center in Brooklyn:

When released, the Strokes’ new album will be the band’s sixth and the first since Comedown Machine in 2013. Talk of a new record first surfaced in 2016, after the release of a three-song EP titled Future Present Past, though not much else in terms of actual “new album” news has come down the pipeline just yet.
