Southern California punk/rock vets The Offspring will get back after it on April 16 with Let The Bad Times Roll, a new album and the band’s tenth overall (and first since 2012’s Days Go By).

The album was officially detailed on Wednesday and the news came with the premiere of the title track and lead single.

Rest assured, The Offspring in 2021 sounds very much like The Offspring you’ve come to know over the years:

The song has an undeniably topical sound, lyrically, and that was by design.

“I feel like we’re in a unique period in history where instead of our world leaders saying ‘we’re doing our best’ it’s more like they’re saying ‘fuck it’ and its really scary,” said lead singer Dexter Holland of the song, which was written in 2019 and recorded in 2020.

Let The Bad Times Roll was produced by Bob Rock and features Dexter Holland (lead vocals/guitars), Noodles (lead guitar), Pete Parada (drums) and Todd Morse (bass).

In a statement, the Offspring referred to the album as “the most cathartic thing we’ve done. The messages might be dark, but at the end what’s left is that communication is important, working through feelings is important and most of all, hope is important.”

The album also features “Coming For You,” a song that was actually first released back in 2015:

“We Never Have Sex Anymore,” meanwhile, actually dates back to the late 1990s, according to a tweet from longtime bassist Greg Kriesel:

The album also includes “Gone Away,” which could be a new version of the band’s 1990s radio hit, which has been performed by Holland on piano in concert extensively:
