The Grand Prize Winner of the Best New Artist contest will:

  • Receive a recording contract and distribution for a 4-song EP produced at Rock Cellar Studios in Chatsworth, California.
  • Appear live at The Care Concert (20,000 attendees) in Woodland Hills, CA on August 29 (all expenses paid) with The Tribe Band and an all-star cast
  • Appear on Rock Cellar Magazine’s August cover along with a special feature in the magazine
  • Receive a Cash Prize
  • and more prizes TBD

RCS program committee will review and consider all applications. Due to anticipated high volume of artist submissions, we may be unable to respond directly to each submission. Please DO NOT contact our offices in person or by telephone.
If you are an unsigned artist residing within the United States, think you are The Next Big Thing, and would like to land a record deal, perform live in front of a huge audience, and be featured in Rock Cellar Magazine, then enter our new artist competition. This could be your big chance!
The Next Big Thing talent contest is designed for solo artists and bands looking for exposure, recognition, and a chance to get you and your music out there. Rock Cellar Records is looking for outstanding, talented new artists. 

Finalists will have the chance to be part of Rock Cellar Records’ inaugural new artist compilation CD in 2020.

Applicants may enter up to 3 songs in up to 3 categories.

Winners for the 2020 competition will be announced by August 1, 2020.

RULES & REGULATIONS

HOW TO ENTER
All Entries Must Be Online:
Please be sure to carefully read all Rules & Regulations before entering. Please enter by clicking HERE. You must complete all information. We will accept mp3s or you may provide a link to where your song is online (youtube, soundcloud, social media, etc).
SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS MAY 1, 2020
Rock Cellar Productions reserves the right to extend the submission deadline for the competition.  

  1. Entrants must submit original songs only. Songs must be no longer than 5 minutes in length. Entrants retain all ownership rights to all original song(s). Rock Cellar will not have any ownership rights to any song(s) submitted. But materials submitted may not be returned.
  2. Entrant agrees to release, indemnify, and hold Rock Cellar, its sponsors, and judges harmless for liability, damages, or claims for injury or loss to any person or property relating to, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, participation in Rock Cellar Productions’ The Next Big Thing.
  3. (if entrant is a minor) By entering this contest, Entrant and/or their parents or legal guardian agree to accept and be bound by the decisions of Rock Cellar Productions and its judges which are final and binding in all matters. By entering this contest, Entrant agrees to be bound by all terms of these official Rules And Regulations as established herein. 
  4. This Contest is governed by the internal laws of the state of California without regard to principals of conflict of laws. All cases and claims pertaining to this competition must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in the City of Los Angeles, California, without recourse to class action suits.
  5. If any provision of these Rules is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction or appointed arbitrator, such determination shall in no way affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision herein.
  6. Rock Cellar Productions is open to all artists who are NOT ALREADY SIGNED to “an existing exclusive recording or production agreement.” The Next Big Thing is open to anyone regardless of nationality or origin. Employees of Rock Cellar Productions, its families, members of The Tribe Band, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not eligible to enter. If entrant is under 18 years old as of the last day of the competition year, the signature of a parent or guardian is required or if by entering online, it is agreed that the parents or legal guardian legally allow the submission and are bound by all rules of the competition.
  7. Entrants may submit up to 3 songs in up to 3 categories. Entrants may also enter the same song in more than one category. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that the submitted song(s) are complete and playable. Rock Cellar does not give feedback or a critique to entrants.
  8. Song lyrics must be family friendly. Songs with obscene subject matter, profanity, or songs of a suggestive nature will not be considered.
  9. Rock Cellar Productions reserves the right to extend the entry deadline. 
  10. Entries are screened by a qualified listening committee who will select a group of finalists eligible for the CD compilation. These finalists will be reviewed by a panel of judges who will select the final winners for the CD compilation and also the Grand Prize Winner. The judges consist of high profile music industry professionals including celebrity artists and music journalists. The final decision of the grand prize winner is solely at the discretion of the judges and Rock Cellar Magazine. All decisions are final.
  11. The Grand Prize Winner and all artists chosen for the compilation CD will be announced by August, 2020. Rock Cellar will post results on its website (rockcellarmagazine.com) and will notify entrants by email once results are posted. Entrants are responsible for providing up-to-date and correct email addresses to Rock Cellar. Rock Cellar is not responsible for entrant’s non-receipt of any emails, including but not limited to, server or email malfunctions. Rock Cellar will announce the winners at the designated time, but will not be held liable for unforeseen delays. Winners will be notified by email or phone. Entry constitutes permission to use entrant’s name, likeness, voice, and/or other submitted materials for future advertising, publicity, or other commercial purposes without compensation. 
  12. Prizes will be awarded to the performer(s) of the song. The entrant listed on the entry form will be the point of contact between Rock Cellar and the performer(s) and will be responsible for the division of prizes among the performers..
  13. There will be no transfer and substitution of prizes except as necessary due to availability in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. Winners agree to release Rock Cellar Productions and sponsors from all liability regarding prizes won. All federal, state, and local taxes, and customs fees (if applicable), are the sole responsibility of winner. Rock Cellar will not pay any winners’ taxes or custom’s fees. Prizes will be sent out within a reasonable amount of time. Prizes being sent to winners from Sponsors may take longer. If after 180 days of winners being announced, any winner has not received a portion of their prizes, it is winner’s responsibility to notify Rock Cellar by email within 30 days as to which prizes are outstanding. If winner fails to notify Rock Cellar, Rock Cellar will not be responsible for delivery of prizes.

When is the deadline to enter?

The deadline to enter for the 2020 contest is May 1, 2020

Does my song have to be original music?

Yes.

How many songs may I submit?

You may submit up to 3 songs in up to 3 categories.

How are winners selected?

There is a qualified listening screening committee that reviews all applicants, then the finalists for the CD compilation will be selected by qualified judges (music industry professionals) who will also select the Grand Prize Winner. Note: There will also be a popular vote through rockcellarmagazine.com

Is there a popular vote?

Artists may gain popular votes by asking friends, fans, and family members to subscribe to Rock Cellar Magazine and vote for you.

What if I change my mind after I submitted an application?

Just drop us an Email at submissions@rockcellarmagazine.com and we will remove you from the contest. 

Will the Grand Prize winner have all expenses covered even if they live out of California?

Yes, but they must reside within the United States.

What are the prizes?

This Privacy Policy discloses the privacy practices for the Next Big Thing only. This privacy notice applies solely to information the Next Big Thing collects, uses, and shares about you and your media.

What type of information do we collect and how do we do it?

When you enter the Next Big Thing online, you will be required to subscribe to rockcellarmagazine.com prior to submitting for the competition by providing several items of personal information, including a) your name, address, contact information, email address, and other registration information; b) transaction-related information; c) information about the song entered; d) information about co-owners of the songs you post, such as their names.
At given times, the Next Big Thing may have affiliates (i.e., platform partners) that process entries for the competition. We work closely with our affiliates to ensure your information is collected and stored in compliance with industry standards. That said, you acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible for the collection and use of your information by third parties that are not under our control. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of each website, service, and application you use.
The Next Big Thing may automatically collect certain information when you visit the website, subscribe to the newsletter, register for the competition, and/or enter the competition.

What do we use your information for?

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

  • Providing you with customer service related to the products, services, or information you request
  • Delivering marketing communications, promotional materials, or advertisements that may be of interest to you (note: we include unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email in case you decide to unsubscribe from receiving future emails)
  • Generating and analyzing statistics about how people use the website
  • Helping business partners and sponsors better understand our users
  • Detecting, investigating, preventing, and responding to fraud, intellectual property infringement, violations of law, or other misuse.

How do we protect your information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you register and/or enter the competition. All supplied information is securely transmitted, but bear in mind that there is no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage that is 100% secure, and because of that, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Under what circumstances do we share this information?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information.  However, we may share the information we collect from you with various parties, including, but not limited to:

  • with our business partners and sponsors to help disperse gifts and/or services and/or special offerings to our competition entrants and/or winners
  • with other platform partners and affiliates as needed to facilitate transactions
  • with service providers that work on our behalf and that have agreed to use the information solely in furtherance of our operations, including, but not limited to, service providers that provide order and payment processing services
  • to comply with a subpoena or other legal process, or to comply with government reporting or other legal obligations

Where is this information processed?

We collect and process the information governed by this Privacy Policy subject to the laws of the United States, which may not provide the same level protection for your personal information as your home country. We may store the information in the United States, and the information may be available to the United States government or its agencies under a lawful order made in the United States.
