The Immediate Family, the esteemed and roll supergroup featuring Danny Kortchmar (guitar and vocals), Waddy Wachtel (guitar and vocals), Leland Sklar (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums) and Steve Postell (guitar and vocals), released a a six-song live EP, Live from Telefunken Soundstage, on May 13.

The EP will feature recordings from a performance the band delivered at Telefunken’s Connecticut headquarters in November 2021, and features Immediate Family originals “Slippin and Slidin’,” “Divorced,” “Fair Warning,” and “House Will Fall,” as well as classic hits “Somebody’s Baby” (a Danny Kortchmar/Jackson Browne collaboration) and “Dirty Laundry” (penned by Danny Kortchmar/Don Henley).

Said Kortchmar of this recording session and EP release: “We had a blast during our recent visit to Telefunken. As a musician, recording artist and producer, I have used Telefunken products my whole career, and they have always been synonymous with quality, so it was great to experience some of that magic on-site. And I think our band played great, and I am proud to show everyone the live EP that we cooked up. Thanks to Telefunken for having us.”

And Postell: “We had a great time at the Telefunken factory and onstage. Founder Toni Fishman and his staff are committed to what they’re doing and carrying on a tradition of quality. Just to be around that is wonderful because we want to keep all that quality alive. Everybody was really warm and inviting to us, and our friend Alan Venitosh put together a great benefit show with Alan Friedman and FKCO.”

A news release notes that Live from Telefunken Soundstage will act as a bridge to The Immediate Family’s upcoming second studio album on Quarto Valley Records (following their Aug. 2021 record) and a documentary film directed by Denny Tedesco (The Wrecking Crew). The film is expected out later this year.

For some additional background on the Immediate Family, the rock and roll resume of the group is eye-popping:

The band is the evolution of a lifetime of friendship of playing music together: it began in the 1970s as a collective of studio and live musicians known as “The Section,” best known for both their work in support of some of the top selling singer/songwriters and solo singers in the history of music, as well as their own acclaimed instrumental albums. Collectively, Kortchmar, Sklar, Kunkel and Waddy Wachtel are four of the most recorded, respected & sought-after musicians in modern music and helped define the sound of a generation by supporting many of the most iconic artists of the last five decades, including James Taylor, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Keith Richards, Neil Young, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Don Henley, Phil Collins, Bonnie Raitt, Warren Zevon, Stevie Nicks, Bryan Ferry, Lyle Lovett and Jimmy Buffett – as well as producers Lou Adler and Peter Asher.
