This past Friday, May 13, The Immediate Family, the esteemed and roll supergroup featuring Danny Kortchmar (guitar and vocals), Waddy Wachtel (guitar and vocals), Leland Sklar (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums) and Steve Postell (guitar and vocals), released a a six-song live EP, Live from Telefunken Soundstage.

Featuring recordings from a performance the band delivered at Telefunken’s Connecticut headquarters in November 2021, the collection features Immediate Family originals “Slippin and Slidin’,” “Divorced,” “Fair Warning,” and “House Will Fall,” as well as classic hits “Somebody’s Baby” (a Danny Kortchmar/Jackson Browne collaboration) and “Dirty Laundry” (penned by Danny Kortchmar/Don Henley).

The group also shared a three-song video performance, which was uploaded to the Telefunken YouTube page and features the songs “Somebody’s Baby,” “Divorced” and “Slippin’ and Slidin'”:

Said Kortchmar of this recording session and EP release: “We had a blast during our recent visit to Telefunken. As a musician, recording artist and producer, I have used Telefunken products my whole career, and they have always been synonymous with quality, so it was great to experience some of that magic on-site. And I think our band played great, and I am proud to show everyone the live EP that we cooked up. Thanks to Telefunken for having us.”

And Postell: “We had a great time at the Telefunken factory and onstage. Founder Toni Fishman and his staff are committed to what they’re doing and carrying on a tradition of quality. Just to be around that is wonderful because we want to keep all that quality alive. Everybody was really warm and inviting to us, and our friend Alan Venitosh put together a great benefit show with Alan Friedman and FKCO.”

A news release notes that Live from Telefunken Soundstage will act as a bridge to The Immediate Family’s upcoming second studio album on Quarto Valley Records (following their Aug. 2021 record) and a documentary film directed by Denny Tedesco (The Wrecking Crew). The film is expected out later this year.
