Members of The Immediate Family (Danny Kortchmar/Waddy Wachtel/Leland Sklar/Russ Kunkel/Steve Postell) to Perform with Carole King at Rock Hall Induction

This weekend, Carole King will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a distinguished Class of 2021 honoree. For King’s corresponding Rock Hall performance, she will be accompanied on stage by Danny Kortchmar, Russ Kunkel and Leland Sklar, seasoned music veterans and members of the classic rock supergroup The Immediate Family.
More on the induction ceremony, via the Rock Halls official site:
The Rock Hall will hold the 36th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on October 30th at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
The Ceremony will air at a later date on HBO and stream on HBO Max, alongside a radio simulcast on SiriusXMs Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Radio channel 310 and Volume channel 106.
The musical roots of Kortchmar, Kunkel and Sklar go back decades, and especially so with King:
Prior to forming The Immediate Family, Kortchmar, Kunkel and Sklar have worked together since the early ’70s as the legendary ensemble The Section, backing up James Taylor and Carole King on The Troubadour Reunion Tour as well as appearing on Taylor and Kings various albums.
The trio will also participate in Carole King & James Taylor: Just Call Out My Name, a new documentary set to premiere on HBO Max and CNN toward the end of 2021.
The Immediate Family, which also features Waddy Wachtel (guitar and vocals) and Steve Postell (guitar and vocals), released a self-titled studio album in late August comprised of 12 original songs and two live tracks.
They’re also gearing up for a fall run of tour dates. Catch a show if you’re interested in an in-person rock and roll history lesson:
