Later this year, indie/folk ensemble The Head and the Heart will embark on a sizable tour of big venues across North America, and the band has assembled a strong set of special guests for the Every Shade of Blue run.

Shakey Graves, Dawes and Jade Bird will trade off opening duties for the tour, which will begin on May 20 and run all the way to October.

The tour shares its name with a new song from the Head and the Heart, which debuted on Friday as the title track of a new album — the first release by the group since 2019’s Living Mirage. Here’s the song’s music video:

Said The Head and the Heart of the song: “Every Shade Of Blue conveys a spectrum of emotions and how we live with them. The closer we get the more shades we see. The more shades we see the more responsibility we hold. We all want to feel loved and protected. The question is will we be supported and seen by the ones we love In Every Shade Of Blue.”’

Every Shade of Blue, the album, will be released on April 29.

Given everything the world has been through the past couple of years, the band is looking forward to getting back out on the road:

“It’s wild to think that by the time we get back on the road this year, it will have been over 2 and a half years since we last toured,” said the Head and the Heart in a statement. “We’re so excited to bring new songs to life on stage every night, traveling alongside artists who inspire us. We can’t wait to get out there, doing what we do with an even greater sense of gratitude.”
