The Spirits on Fire tour, featuring The Smashing Pumpkins and special guests Jane’s Addiction, is on now — and thus far, it looks like a can’t-miss night of music for anyone who was conscious and aware of rock and roll music in the 1990s.

Both bands released music in the decade that have become the stuff of legend, songs from each group undeniably as much a part of the “signature” sound of ’90s rock as any other.

The tour kicked off on Sunday at American Airlines Arena in Dallas, and if you’re curious what to expect from the bands in terms of set lists, well, Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin and Jeff Schroeder close the show with a marathon set of classics, fan favorites, deep cuts and new songs from their upcoming 33-track “rock opera” ATUM, which will be fully released in April.

Here’s Smashing Pumpkins’ set list from Dallas:

Bullet With Butterfly Wings
We Only Come Out at Night
Once in a Lifetime (Talking Heads cover)
Ava Adore
Tonight, Tonight (Billy and James Acoustic)
Stand Inside Your Love
I of the Mourning
Cherub Rock
Neophyte (New song; live debut)
Harmageddon (New song; live debut)
If There Is a God

For Jane’s Addiction, there’s one major thing to note about this tour: Guitarist Dave Navarro isn’t participating, as he’s stuck at home still dealing with a bout of long COVID. He made that announcement just prior to the tour starting up, noting that Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age will fill in alongside bassist Eric Avery, drummer Stephen Perkins and vocalist Perry Farrell:
