Sleater-Kinney’s New Lyric Video for the St. Vincent-Produced ‘Hurry On Home’ is An Excellent Use of the Medium

Later this year, Sleater-Kinney will release a new album, the follow-up to 2015’s No Cities To Love. Recently, the acclaimed alt/punk band premiered its lead single, “Hurry On Home,” which was produced by St. Vincent.
The song itself is a blast, as Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss sound as vibrant as cohesive a musical unit as they’ve been for their two-decade-plus career, but its lyric video is even better. Just watch this:
That’s an inventive way to do something that most bands and musical acts take for granted. Far from just words on a screen, that’s some real innovation from director Miranda July.
While the band’s new album doesn’t have an official release date yet, they did announce a long run of headlining tour dates for the fall. Catch the band live:
