On Oct. 1, Roger Taylor, drummer of Queen and noted singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, will release a new solo album titled Outsider. It will be his first since 2013’s Fun on Earth and his sixth to date.

Late Thursday, Taylor debuted a music video for the album’s lead single, “We’re All Just Trying To Get By,” a heartfelt tune featuring KT Tunstall in a guest appearance:

The video was filmed by the musicians remotely from their respective studios during the pandemic lockdown — a theme that runs through the Outsider album as a whole. The official album announcement characterizes the record like this:

With much of Outsider recorded during lockdown, this new album finds Taylor in a reflective mood, conveying a palpable sense of isolation, concerns over the passing of time, and tellingly dedicated “to all the outsiders, those who feel left on the sidelines.” A highly personal project, Outsider’s instrumentation is almost entirely performed by Taylor, with his vocals matching the mood-piece atmosphere.

Said Taylor: “I’ve had a bit of a creative spurt and suddenly found myself with an album, which was lovely. It was a surprise! I just found myself in the studio and they came out one after the other. It was a pleasure really.”

The album’s track listing:

“I Know, I Know, I Know”
“More Kicks”
“Absolutely Anything”
“Gangsters Are Running This World”
“We’re All Just Trying To Get By” – Featuring K T Tunstall
“Gangsters Are Running This World” – Purple Version
