This Saturday 11/7: Watch the 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony (with an Eddie Van Halen Tribute)

Among the many things upended by the COVID-19 pandemic this year was the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, which were pushed back from a planned in-person event last May and will now air this Saturday, Nov. 7, in a pre-taped special presentation on HBO and HBO Max (click here to sign up or start a free trial).
As a reminder, the Class of 2020 is an eclectic group of musical acts that will be enshrined into the hallowed halls of the Rock Hall of Fame:
Depeche Mode
The Doobie Brothers
Whitney Houston
Nine Inch Nails
The Notorious B.I.G.
T. Rex

The shift from the traditional in-person event to something taped and premiering on HBO means a different show is in order, of course, but it seems that the Hall of Fame has pulled out all the stops to create the next-best option.
Here’s an official trailer for Saturday’s show, which features appearances from Dave Grohl, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Brad Paisley, Lin Manuel Miranda, Sean “Diddy” Combs and more:
There will also be a special segment paying tribute to late guitarist Eddie Van Halen, who passed away on Oct. 6 at 65 after a battle with cancer. According to Rolling Stone, the EVH segment will feature tributes from Tom Morello, Slash and Kirk Hammett of Metallica.
More about the show overall:

It’s great that T-Rex is being honored – but Marc Bolan should be leading the class of 2020.
T-Rex-mania was massive in the UK – and he had the music to back it up. Far better than the Doobies who became a lounge act under Michael MacD. Depeche Mode also worthy of being honored. Time for Devo and the Guess Who to be inducted, Husker Du too.
Absolutely. Marc bolan and t.rex were and are legendary. Psychedelia, hard rock, glam, proto punk, soul, funk all wielded by a mad genius whose head held worlds of fantasy and surrealism. One of my fave classic rockers if all time.
There was also supposed to be a tribute to EVH featuring various “guitar gods”. Is this still happening?
