Today, Dec. 22,  Rick Nielsen — the iconic and influential guitarist of power pop legends Cheap Trick — celebrates his 72nd birthday.

To celebrate the occasion while staying safe at home during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Nielsen and The Nielsen Trust (Rick, sons Daxx and Miles and Miles’s wife, singer Kelly Steward) will host a special live stream birthday bash tonight from The Castle Theatre in Bloomington, Illinois.

The birthday bash will be streamed via Empire Live, and tickets to watch the show cost $20 — click here for more details. It begins at 8 p.m. CST/6 p.m. PST. It’ll be a multi-cam, pro-shot concert stream from the Castle Theatre, and ticketholders will be able to watch the show for 72 hours of on-demand access after the initial stream.
