Ric Ocasek’s Family Shares Statement, Original ‘Doodle’ Drawn By Ocasek Before His Death

The news on Sunday of the passing of Ric Ocasek, legendary front man and musical legend of the Cars, had passed away at the age of 75 hit the music community hard.

CNN reporter Jake Tapper issued an update in the form of the New York medical examiner’s assertion that Ric Ocasek died of “heart disease, specifically of Hypertensive and Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease. Ocasek had the contributing condition of Pulmonary Emphysema.”

On Monday, Ocasek’s family issued a few statements via the Cars’ social media channels, confirming that he died at home after undergoing a surgical procedure.

Ocasek’s sons also shared some art their father had drawn on a piece of paper shortly before he passed as a tribute to the man, adding:

Our dad was a prolific doodler. His passing was sudden, unexpected, and beyond heartbreaking. Yesterday, we found this last doodle on his armchair. He couldn’t have known what it would end up meaning to us. We love him so much.
