The seventh and final season of the Netflix drama Orange Is The New Black premiered on Friday. For seven years, the highly rated series has entertained audiences with its larger-than-life characters and social commentary, while telling the stories of women locked up in federal prison. To commemorate the show’s final season, musician/singer Regina Spektor premiered a new, orchestral version of her song “You’ve Got Time,” which has been the theme song for the entirety of the show’s run:

For comparison’s sake, here’s OITNB’s credit sequence with Spektor’s song featured:

“What a special world Jenji created and invited us all into,” Spektor says of working with the show’s creator Jenji Kohan, “Over the years it was a privilege to see the Orange Family grow and expand and experiment. Making a new interpretation of the song felt like a fitting way to say goodbye.” She worked with Rob Moose and the members of yMusic to create an intimate chamber music arrangement, and produced the song with the help of her husband, musician Jack Dishel. “A new sound emerged,” she explains, “it now has a more hushed and eerie feeling to it.”

A pretty great way to help close the chapter on one of the most popular shows of the past decade or so, isn’t it?
