Red Hot Chili Peppers Tease New Song on Social Media with a 20-Second John Frusciante Guitar Solo

Update: The Red Hot Chili Peppers have premiered “Black Summer” and announced a new album — click here.
It’s looking more likely than ever that a new single from the Red Hot Chili Peppers is imminent.
Last week, the band set its devoted fan base into a frenzy with tantalizingly short snippet of new music posted on social media — in the form of a looping, melodic guitar lick from John Frusciante, our first sampling of new material from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band since he rejoined the group:

On Tuesday evening, the band’s social media pages lit up once again with another preview, but this one was more substantial. A 20-second video featuring Frusciante ripping a guitar solo in a rehearsal space, with a glimpse of bassist Flea in the foreground:
It’s been quite some time since the world heard new music from the Chilis with Frusciante back on board, so these bursts of activity come with heightened anticipation.
Back in October, the band announced some huge plans for 2022 in the form of a stadium tour with Frusciante. Also in the works is a new studio album, which would be the band’s first since 2016’s The Getaway and the first with Frusciante since 2006’s double-album Stadium Arcadium.
Get ready for more from the Chilis soon.
