Record Store Day 2022: Special Releases Coming from David Bowie, The Doors, Taylor Swift, U2 and Many More

Saturday, April 23 will mark the 15th annual Record Store Day, an event that began as a small niche appreciation of the vinyl record and has since morphed into an industry-wide celebration, with noteworthy and limited-run titles being released each year at independent retailers.
The official list of 2022 releases was announced on Wednesday, and as usual it features a host of big names releasing titles that are sure to get fans excited.

Taylor Swift is this year’s Record Store Day Ambassador, and as such she has a 7″ single of her song “The Lakes” (originally a bonus track on her wildly successful 2020 album folklore) on the way.

Medicine at Midnight “Re-Versions”
The Foos will release a 7″ featuring re-worked versions of two songs from their 2021 album: “Making A Fire (Mark Ronson Re-Version)” and “Chasing Birds (Preservation Hall Jazz Band Re-Version).”

A re-release of Prince’s first album he released as his iconic symbol, available on 2-LP (24,150 quantity).

Hammett recently announced his first-ever solo release, and it will make its physical debut on CD (7,500 quantity) and LP (6,500 quantity) for Record Store Day.
“A Celebration” was a 1982 single by U2, their seventh at the time. It was released between the albums War (1981) and October (1983), and will be made available as a limited-edition 12″ EP for Record Store Day.
This 40th-anniversary limited-edition reissue is a 4-track EP containing two previously unreleased recordings. The first is a studio out-take of the title track. The second is a performance of b-side and live favorite “Trash, Trampoline And The Party Girl,” recorded live in October 2015 in Köln, Germany during the iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour.
