Ray and Dave Davies Have Been Recording New Music for a Kinks Album, According to Ray

The will-they-or-won’t-they regarding Ray Davies and his brother, Dave Davies, reconnecting after all these years for new music as the Kinks has been going on for a while — but a revelation from Ray this week has fans very excited about what might be to come from the legendary band.
In our 2015 feature, Ray said the following to Rock Cellar’s Jeff Slate:
“I’m hopeful,” he says. “Again, with Dave, I don’t know how to read him. Mick (Avory) and I talk about music, and we play it until we get it right. And it takes a long time. With Dave, you just have to do it the first take. There’s not an easy way to get us to play together. That’s nothing new, but whatever happens, it’ll probably be different components put together, sliced together. I’d really love to see everybody come up with something, though. You know, the dream continues.”
Rolling Stone’s new report indicates that what Ray told us four years ago is still very much in action:
“This has really been going on for a couple of years,” Dave Davies told Rolling Stone via phone on Tuesday. “We keep going backwards and listening to a lot of old stuff. Some of that is very good, and some of it needs a bit of work.”
As for when we might actually see the tangible product of the Davies brothers’ musical reconnection, we’ll have to keep waiting … patiently, or not so patiently. That part’s up to you.
Hopefully soon!
