When the lineup and details were announced last week for the 2022 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, it was notable that Rage Against the Machine was no longer among its headliners.

The omission of the legendary rap-metal/hard-rock band had many speculating whether the group’s reunion tour (which was already rescheduled once due to the COVID-19 pandemic) would be shelved again, and the answer came down on Thursday: Yes.

The outing with special guests Run the Jewels has officially been pushed to this summer, July to be precise. However, 19 of the planned 38 shows have new dates, but the other half have been indefinitely postponed, pending further developments.

Said Rage Against the Machine in a statement:

The Rage Against the Machine ‘Public Service Announcement’ North American Tour with Run the Jewels will now start on July 9, 2022 in East Troy, Wisconsin,” the band wrote in a social media post signed by all four members.

“Headline shows scheduled for March 31, 2022 through May 23, 2022 will be postponed and rescheduled. All tickets for the moved dates will be honored. For fans wishing to obtain a refund for the postponed dates, refunds are available for a 30-day window from the point of purchase only, starting today.

“We will be back to you soon with the rerouted dates. Brad, Tim, Tom & Zack.”
