Phoebe Bridgers Didn’t Win a Grammy … so Will Elton John Indeed ‘Hit Someone’?

On Sunday, singer/songwriter Phoebe Bridgers was up for four awards at the Grammy Awards … but she didn’t win any, losing Best Rock Song to Brittany Howard and both Best Rock Performance and Best Alternative Music Album to Fiona Apple in awards that were announced prior to the telecast.
During the CBS telecast, Bridgers lost Best New Artist to Megan Thee Stallion, which means that Sir Elton John has to now hit somebody.
Wait … what?
Women are making the most interesting music in the world today and they have been for a while. I loved speaking to @phoebe_bridgers about her record and our shared love of #billieeilish 🚀

You see, Bridgers joined Sir Elton on his podcast last week, and the two discussed her big year led by her acclaimed album Punisher.
“Your album is like an old friend,” said Elton in their conversation. “It’s like a Tapestry. I have records in my life that are reference points and I think Punisher‘s one of those reference points. I can’t pay you a bigger compliment than that.”
After raving about the album, Bridgers’ second full-length and the follow-up to her 2017 record Stranger in the Alps, John capped off the interview by saying, ““If you don’t win at least one, I’m going to hit someone, OK?”

Now that Phoebe Bridgers has been officially shut out of all four nominations, that means … well, you know what it means.
Watch out, world.
Despite Bridgers losing her nominations this year, expect even bigger things from her in the future. After all, she has Sir Elton in her corner, and recently released a new version of her Grammy-nominated single “Kyoto” with none other than Jackson Browne.
With friends like those … the sky’s the limit.
