Original Drummer Pete Best Had the Perfect Answer to ‘Who Or What Got You Into the Beatles’?

Pete Best is known the world over as the original drummer of the Beatles. He split from the group in 1962 after manager Brian Epstein sought a replacement behind the kit. Ringo Starr took over that role, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Here’s a clip from the 1980s in which Best discusses his short tenure in the Beatles:

Despite his quick exit from the group, Pete Best remains a crucial part of the Beatles’ story — and earlier this week, the 78-year-old had a perfect response to a query posited by the Fab Four’s social media page.
The question? A simple “Who or what got you into the Beatles?’

Now, most of us would answer “Our parents!” “The Ed Sullivan Show!” or other moments in our lives that turned us on to the music of John, Paul, George and Ringo. But Pete Best has a unique perspective that trumps the rest of ours, and he capitalized on it:
Paul phoned me and asked me to join. That’s what got me into The Beatles. https://t.co/HrlqdrhrvQ
