This Friday, Aug. 5, Sir Paul McCartney will release McCartney I II III, a special box set collection of three of his cherished solo albums — 1970’s McCartney, 1980’s McCartney II, and 2020’s McCartney III.

To ramp up anticipation of the release, “Macca” shared a series of tweets about McCartney III, referred to as his “Rockdown” album. Originally released in December of 2020, it was very much a record inspired by those confusing times of the pandemic … though, as @PaulMcCartney posted on Twitter, he didn’t intend on recording an album at all, really:

McCartney I II III will be available in a variety of formats and come with special photo prints with notes from “Macca” about each record, creative expressions of his post-Beatles musical self that cemented his status as one of the most gifted musicians ever, now 80 years young and still out on the road doing what he loves so much.
