A body has been discovered in Lake Piru, the location where Glee actress Naya Rivera disappeared last week, with TMZ reporting that the body is, in fact, the 33-year-old.

Update: The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the body was that of Naya Rivera on Monday afternoon:

“We are confident the body we found is that of Naya Rivera,” Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said, adding “there is no indication of foul play or that this was a suicide.

Last Wednesday, Rivera and her four-year-old son went boating in Lake Piru, a reservoir located in Ventura County. Eventually, somebody noticed the young child in the boat by himself, but there was no sign of his mother. The child said his mother never returned to the boat after the two of them went swimming.

The search that unfolded turned into a recovery project after authorities were unable to find Rivera after the initial discovery of her son in the boat by himself.

More details, per the Hollywood Reporter:

On Thursday, the focus of the investigation shifted to a recovery operation. Teams of divers and other recuse workers totaling 100 personnel searched the lake as best they could all day given the poor visibility conditions. The lake has a number of impediments, such as tree roots, which authorities said made the search slow and difficult. Authorities noted Friday fewer divers were being used in place of sophisticated sonar equipment to help in the investigation due to the vast impediments and poor visibility under the water. Of Thursday’s search, a diver described visibility as that of one to two feet, with divers having to dig through tree branches and a heavy brush bottom.

Naya Rivera became a regular cast member on Glee in its second season, and was one of the series’ breakout stars.
