Tonight is another #MetallicaMondays event from the thrash-metal gods, as a means of entertainment during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s a special one. On June 12, 2012 in Nickelsdorf, Austria, Metallica took the stage to pay homage to one of the biggest moments in the band’s history: the release of 1991’s self-titled Black Album.

They did it with a bit of a twist, however: Metallica performed the album from back-to-front, rather than front-to-back, after a five-song introduction to the evening.

“Live in Austria – June 10, 2012” for a set that sees “The Black Album” played from back to front in celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary. The complete show will stream for free tonight starting at 5 PM PDT / 8 PM EDT. Subscribe to our YouTube channel for alerts as streaming begins! #StayHome

(The phrase ‘back-to-front,’ by the way, reminds devoted Metallica fans of the Master of Puppets classic “Disposable Heroes,” doesn’t it?)

The set list from the night tells the story:

Hit the Lights
Master of Puppets
The Four Horsemen
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Hell and Back
The Black Album (In reverse order)
The Struggle Within
My Friend of Misery

It’s all going up on the Metallica YouTube page tonight, May 11, at 8:00 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT:
