Marilyn Manson Covered The Doors’ ‘The End’ for a New TV Adaptation of ‘The Stand,’ and It’s Intense and Creepy (Listen)

“The End” is one of the most haunting songs ever recorded, as Jim Morrison and The Doors really tapped into something intense for the song, which closed the band’s legendary 1996 debut album. So when hearing that Marilyn Manson covered the song for a new television adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, you’d be correct in assuming it’s ALSO especially eerie and intense.
The song premiered Friday and crawls along for nine minutes, sinister sounds and Manson’s voice alternating between ominously quiet tones and frightening screams, bringing the madness of the track to life in 2019 as only he could.

The song was produced by Shooter Jennings, who worked with the iconic shock-rocker on the upcoming Marilyn Manson album, which will be the follow-up to 2017’s Heaven Upside Down.
As Manson told Revolver, he and Jennings worked on this song for a new TV adaptation of The Stand, and their experience might have an effect on the new record:
“Shooter and I also did a cover of “The End” by the Doors, for a new miniseries of The Stand by Stephen King, which I’m also going to be acting in. I think that sort of kick-started our process for the album, and started us exploring different things.”
Marilyn Manson will also go out on the road supporting Ozzy Osbourne on some of Osbourne’s rescheduled No More Tours 2 dates in North America, which was announced earlier this week.
