Louisiana-based singer/songwriter Marc Broussard gives a special shout-out to Al Green in the opening seconds of his new song, “Fire,” before the track’s soulful energy and rhythmic stomp take over.

It’s a preview of Broussard’s new EP coming this fall, and Rock Cellar is premiering the music video below:

“I’d been looking for a vibe like this for quite some time,” said Broussard of the composition, which he co-wrote with producer Eric Krasno. “I gave Kraz a few tunes to reference for inspiration. He sent back a really nice track and the words fell out of my mouth. Kraz definitely had to do some massaging to get it in the right place and I’m immensely grateful to him for it.”

“Fire” will be released on July 1. Click here to pre-save the track now.

The EP coming this fall follows Broussard’s 2019 album A Lullaby Collection and will serve as a bridge to a new full-length album produced by Joe Bonamassa, expected out in early 2023.

Here’s some background on Broussard, who’s amassed an international audience of adoring fans over the years thanks to hard work and an earnest style of soulful music:

Marc Broussard’s incomparable brand of soul –- a sweeping combination of rock, blues, R&B, pop, and funk coupled with his powerful vocals, has garnered worldwide praise from critics and fans alike. The son of Louisiana Hall of Fame guitarist Ted Broussard of “The Boogie Kings” Broussard nurtured his musical gifts at an early age, and the vibrant Lafayette, Louisiana music scene gave him the opportunity to practice his craft consistently from childhood through early adulthood. After releasing a successful independent EP at age 20, Broussard made his major label debut with Carencro. The album featured the hit “Home” and catapulted him into the national spotlight. Broussard released multiple albums with major labels over the next 10 years but has recently returned to his independent roots having released several acclaimed original and charitable cover albums via his SOS Foundation (Save our Soul).
