Listen to a New Remix of Madonna’s “Frozen,” Revisiting the Version That Went Viral on TikTok in 2021

Originally released as the lead single on her 1998 album Ray of Light, “Frozen” was a bit ahead of its time for Madonna.
The electronic-tinged progression helped the haunting song hold up well over the years, and it turns out the song was tailor-made for TikTok. A new remix of the song made waves last year from mysterious masked producer Sickick, quickly gaining momentum on the social media platform:
A press release noted that “Frozen (Sickick Remix)” amassed nearly 50M streams globally and soundtracked more than 100K TikTok videos.
On Thursday, a new remix of that remix was debuted. This one also features Nigerian singer Fireboy DML, his rhymes echoing some of Madonna’s words in the original song:
A music video is coming soon, too.

Madonna’s original “Frozen” was a global smash, her sixth single to peak at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
If nothing else, this TikTok resurgence of “Frozen” is indicative of lasting influence on pop music that Madonna has earned over the years — one a press release notes is being celebrated throughout 2022:
2022 marks the 40th anniversary of Madonna’s recording debut, and this series of releases arrives both as celebration of that impressive body of work, and highlights how, all along the way, she’s remained ahead of the curve, always seeking out new sounds and pushing pop forward. With songs like “Frozen (Fireboy DML Remix),” she proves that she’s intending to keep doing that for a long time to come.
