Sad news hit Hollywood Monday when it was announced that Leslie Jordan, beloved actor/comedian Leslie Jordan died at the age of 67.

Initial reports indicated that Jordan crashed into the side of a building in Los Angeles while driving, with TMZ suggesting he may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.

Over the years, Jordan amassed the respect and adoration of many in the acting world, winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2006 for his role as Beverley Leslie in the sitcom Will & Grace.

Among his other noteworthy roles, Jordan portrayed Lonnie Garr on Hearts Afire, various characters in the FX American Horror Story series, The Help, and, most recently, a key role on the CBS sitcom Call Me Kat.

That current show, which stars Mayim Bialik, is currently airing its third season. News of Jordan’s sudden passing prompted this statement from Bialik, with production on the show being put on hold in light of the circumstances:

The truest of Southern Gentlemen, Leslie carried an infectious exuberance, indelible sense of humor and, throughout, gifted us with countless fond memories that will last forever. As we grieve this sad news, we also wish to extend our most profound sympathies to Leslie’s family, friends and fans, whom he held so dear.”
