The End of the Road farewell tour from KISS has hit a snag, as on Thursday evening Paul Stanley revealed that he has tested positive for COVID-19, despite being fully vaccinated. As a result, the rockers’ gig at The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, PA was postponed.

Stanley first revealed the news on his social media, noting that he had been experiencing flu-like symptoms but testing negative, until a positive test came back due to the band’s rigorous testing procedures while on the road:

He also dispelled some rumors about his condition:

A statement from KISS came later:

Tonight’s KISS show at The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, PA is unfortunately postponed due to Paul Stanley testing positive for COVID. More information about show dates will be made available ASAP. Everyone on the entire tour, both band and crew, are fully vaccinated. The band and their crew have operated in a bubble independently to safeguard everyone as much as possible at each show and in between shows. The tour also has a COVID safety protocol officer on staff full-time that is ensuring everyone is closely following all CDC guidelines.

It’s unclear at this point if this issue will force the postponement or cancellations of any other upcoming shows on the tour, pending more testing for Stanley and the band and crew.

For what it’s worth, Stanley’s band mate Gene Simmons outlined the rigorous preparations the band put in place for the tour to ensure everyone’s safety and healthy given the state of the pandemic when discussing the band’s newly announced Las Vegas residency with Rolling Stone in a Q&A:

“I would highly recommend for everybody to get two Pfizer or Moderna shots, please — for the rest of us. Even if you believe the Earth is flat, it’s not. The former president… I knew the man before he ran for office. It was a crime for him to rip the mask off and take that stance and create that negative culture of distrust when he himself was vaccinated. The least he could do is say, “Hey, guys, I’ve been vaccinated because I don’t want to die. You may want to think about doing the same thing.” Nope, never talked about it. I think that’s highly unethical. So what do we do? The entire road crew must be vaccinated twice. Nobody gets backstage or onstage without wearing masks, and everybody stays at a safe distance and you’ve got to wash your hands and do everything else the CDC says. Don’t listen to politicians. They’re not qualified. Listen to scientists.”
