Acclaimed pianist/vocalist/songwriter/performer Judith Owen is spending some of her time in coronavirus pandemic quarantine by keeping very active on social media — as every Wednesday and Sunday at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET, she will go live ‘In Isolation,’ broadcasting from her various social media channels.

For select performances, Owen will be accompanied by Leland Sklar on bass and Pedro Segundo on percussion.

For Owen, who is also participating in the All Together Now! fundraising concert event on April 25 benefiting the Los Angeles Emergency COVID-19 Relief Fund, she views this method of at-home entertainment as a much-needed balm for the anxieties of the present:

“I’ve always relied heavily on the cathartic powers of music and humor to get through life, especially as someone with serious anxiety!

So, it seems natural now that we’re all feeling it and ‘all in this boat together’ to use those same skills and outlets to diffuse, distract, and to lower the blood pressure in these strange, literally isolating times.

Whether it be through parodies like ‘Don’t Stand So Close To Me,’ emotionally cathartic and connecting original songs, or sketches involving two of my favorite ‘awful’ female characters – narcissistic opera singer/diva Arianna Uniboobolos or Bassey-esque narcissistic ’60s icon/diva Dame Notting Leica (as featured in Derek Smalls “Lukewarm Water Live!” stage show) – dealing with and giving ‘isolation tips for the everyday diva,’ I’ll be doing what I do best from a safe distance and without the need for any wipes or hand sanitizers – entertaining, sharing, and uplifting at a time when laughter and music are psychologically the best medicine.”

Last week, Owen, Sklar and Segundo performed “Lovely Day” as a tribute to the late Bill Withers:

The In Isolation broadcasts will go live each Wednesday and Sunday via Judith Owen’s YouTube page, Instagram account, Facebook page and more — so be sure to tune in!
