Thursday morning brought with it a bit of music amid the madness caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the global concern it’s presented — concern that has halted our collective way of life and thrown upheaval into what we would otherwise consider “normal.” The classic song “Imagine” by John Lennon was recorded by various major celebrities, coordinated by Gal Gadot (most notably known for her roles in the Wonder Woman films), as a message of peace and togetherness — though not everybody was impressed by the gesture.

Said Gadot in her video uploaded to Instagram:

We are in this together, we will get through it together.
Let’s imagine together.
Sing with us ❤
All love to you, from me and my dear friends. #WeAreOne

The video includes several portions of the John Lennon song performed by different entertainers from various stages of the business. Included are Kristen Wiig, Jamie Dornan, James Marsden, Sarah Silverman, Jimmy Fallon, Natalie Portman, Zoe Kravitz, Linda Carter and more.

The result of this video put “John Lennon” at the top spot of Twitter’s Trending Topics — which, if you’re unfamiliar with how Twitter works, means *everybody* was talking about it for a certain point of time on the platform.

Of course, part of the reason it was trending was due to criticism from some circles regarding rich celebrities doing something like singing “Imagine,” a timeless song from a classic Lennon album that may be a bit cliche and overplayed at this point, just for the sake of “going viral” on the internet.
