On Thursday, legendary rocker John Fogerty celebrated his 75th birthday, and he and the ‘Fogerty Factory’ — his family band made up of kids Shane, Kelsy and Tyler — played a song together, as they’ve been doing for weeks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

But a milestone as momentous as 75th birthday deserves something special, so the Fogerty clan took a trip to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles to play “Centerfield,” from the actual outfield grass.

It took 75 years and it’s a little different than I envisioned. Now on my birthday I get to fulfill my dream playing “Centerfield” in centerfield with my kids on the team. A home run! Hopefully it won’t be long until we are able to have baseball back. Until then… “Put me in coach, I’m ready to play!” ⚾️🏟

It’s an eerie scene, for sure, seeing an almost entirely empty ballpark in the summer, a consequence of the pandemic that has still made the return of live sporting events impossible, but the warmth of this performance shines through nonetheless.

Many happy returns to John Fogerty on the birthday, and here’s hoping the Fogerty Factory performances keep coming! The uploads have been a source of great entertainment in recent weeks, like their recent trip outdoors to hang with some friendly farm animals:
