Jesse Colin Young & Daughter Jazzie Cover Yusuf/Cat Stevens’s “Trouble” to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of 1971’s ‘Harold and Maude’

Celebrated singer/songwriter Jesse Colin Young recently teamed up with his daughter, Jazzie Young, for a spirited rendition of “Trouble,” originally by Yusuf/Cat Stevens as a part of the timeless soundtrack to the 1971 film Harold and Maude.
Young’s cover is geared around commemorating the 50th anniversary of the film, and features a music video with both generations of Youngs and some dazzling color effects:
“I have lived with this song in my heart for decades and through many times of trouble,” said Jesse Colin Young. “My daughter Jazzie Young thought I wrote it because I would sing it often. I am delighted to have her sing this with me, as it’s a dear friend to both of us. Thank you, Yusuf Islam, for this gift. And thank you Harold and Maude for bringing it to us in visuals. Happy 50th!”
Added Jazzie:
“‘Trouble’ was the song that introduced me to Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens). My dad used to play it a lot when I was younger, so it feels like such a cool full circle moment to be able to sing on this record with him.”
Young has kept busy in recent months. In late August, he shared a video for a cover of Van Morrison’s “These Dreams of You”:
That activity came after the November 2020 release of Highway Troubadour, a new collection of reimagined songs from throughout his vaunted career.

“Highway Troubadour is not only a return to my roots, but the beginning of a surprise adventure of solo performing,” said Young about the album’s release. “I have begun to take guitar playing to a whole new level while revisiting my decades of musical catalogue.”
