Garcia was recorded around the same time that fellow Weir was working on his own solo debut, Ace, which was more of a Dead album of sorts (since Weir worked with many of his band mates on the material).

Ace, by the way, is also on track for a 50th anniversary reissue of its own, coming up in January of 2023. — before Weir and his ensemble Dead and Company embarks on its Final Tour in the summer.

I was all set for this 50th anniversary reissue until I read — or should I say, until I didn’t read, anywhere, that this release was Remastered! I already have the original release, so I don’t need another straight reissue with a few outtakes. Had this album been remastered, I would have already preordered it. Sadly, this release is not doing the Garcia legacy any justice….
