This Friday, Oct. 29, longtime Alice in Chains guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Jerry Cantrell will return with Brighten, his first new solo album since 2002’s Degradation Trip. Cantrell has been previewing the record in recent weeks with a handful of tracks, the latest (and final) pre-release single being “Siren Song,” combining finger-picked and distorted guitar sounds and Cantrell’s voice, as he sings:

“She don’t lie she walks on. A passerby in a dream. You feel as though it’ll never die. In my dark you are the light. Funny how the feeling never goes. When I’m wrong you are the right. Carry the memory in my soul”:

“Siren Song” joins previous singles including the title track:

Seen in the “Brighten” video alongside Cantrell are some of the musicians who also accompanied him in the studio:

Vocals/Guitar: Greg Puciato
Bass: Tyler Bates
Drums: Abe Laboriel Jr. (Paul McCartney’s drummer since 2001)
Piano: Vincent Jones

“Atone” was the first song shared from the album:

“I’ve been in the band for almost 34 years now,” said Cantrell in a statement about finding the energy for a new solo record. “It’s always my first and foremost commitment, but it’s nice to explore different things and add another chapter to a growing body of work. After the last AIC tour wrapped, I geared my mind towards the possibility of making another record of my own.”
