In 2019, Incubus went out on a special 20th anniversary tour in commemoration of 1999’s Make Yourself, the Calabasas, California band’s breakthrough third album. 2021 marked the 20th anniversary of another important record, 2001’s Morning View, though Incubus didn’t tour for it due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With that context, this summer tour should be a cathartic experience for band and fan base alike, with Incubus hopefully adding some Morning View favorites into its set. An Incubus live performance ordinarily tends to draw from all corners of the band’s catalog, touching on material as far back as 1997’s S.C.I.E.N.C.E and as recent as 2017’s 8.

This renewed activity comes shortly after front man Brandon Boyd released a new solo album, Echoes & Cocoons, on March 11 — his first proper solo album in a decade.

A collection of songs putting his customary earnest vocal delivery and emotional lyrical wordplay on full display, Boyd previewed it in recent weeks with a few songs:

Boyd, a devoted visual artist when not on Incubus duty, kept busy elsewhere recently as well:

He also founded Moonlight Arts Collective, a community of art enthusiasts who appreciate the creative output of cultural icons who ‘moonlight’ as visual artists. This collective features his paintings, in addition to those of friends like Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo) and actresses Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development), Melissa Villaseñor (Saturday Night Live) and Heart Evangelista (I Left My Heart In Sorsogon) as well as noted photographer, Brian Bowen Smith.
