Incubus premiered a new song titled “Into the Summer” on Friday. Everything about it, from Michael Einziger’s funky guitar lick to Ben Kenney’s slap bass rhythm to Brandon Boyd’s soaring vocals, screams “80s.”

It’s a throwback jam of the highest degree, and the band definitely intended it to be as such. Here’s some art from Boyd previewing the track to drive that point home:

The video for the song, which premiered along with the track itself, plays like a reverent homage to classic ’80s fare like “The Lost Boys” and even, perhaps, Mihael Jackson’s “Thriller” video, what with the vampire themes and all. Watch it below:

The song is a preview of Incubus’ next record, which will be the follow-up to 2017’s 8, a record Einziger spoke with us about back around its release.

The premiere of “Into the Summer” also comes as Incubus prepares to head out on a special 20th anniversary tour commemorating 1999’s Make Yourself, the band’s breakout album led by singles including “Drive,” “Pardon Me” and “Stellar.” It was a record that made the world aware of Incubus, so this will be a monumentally good time for fans each night out.
