Happy 75th Birthday to Roger Daltrey of The Who!

2019 is a big year for The Who — the legendary rock band will head out on a special 29-city North American tour backed by a symphony orchestra. But it’s also a big year for another reason, as vocalist Roger Daltrey celebrates his 75th birthday today.
75 is quite an important birthday indeed, so here’s an extension of sincere happy birthday greetings to one of the finest singers rock and roll has ever seen.

In June 2018, Rock Cellar was fortunate enough to speak with Daltrey about his latest solo album, As Long As I Have You, and he revealed a bit about his perspective on the Who’s classic record Tommy:
The years previous, the original material I was singing was a person who had a lost identity searching for home. Tommy brought me home.
Id been the deaf, dumb and blind kid, and that music took me home. All of a sudden I knew exactly what I was doing. I knew exactly who I was. I didnt fear anything. Again, it was all about, Im over that hurdle of the previous four years. My singing style changed because of the type of material I was singing. It was no more mimicking; it was a real British thing. It was its own thing. I didnt think about doing it. Its just how it happened.
