It can be a challenge to fully pin down Ghost, thanks to the Swedish hard-rock/metal/glam/pop group’s affinity for adventures into all corners of the musical sphere.

The band, essentially a musical project for vocalist/songwriter Tobias Forge, who’s presented himself over the years as “Papa Emeritus,” “Cardinal Copia” and, most recently, “Papa Emeritus IV” — always a figure shrouded in mystery and wearing heavy cloaks — has seamlessly blended styles and genres, with its latest album, Impera, hitting the bullseye for its most fully-formed expression to date.

The song “Spillways” is one of the most straightforward tracks from the record, a glammed-up anthem led by a piano riff, vocal harmonies and a rhythmic energy that will lodge in your head for hours upon hearing it once. The track now has a performance-based music video, finding Forge and his “Nameless Ghouls” doing their thing:
