Watch Genesis Dust Off “Misunderstanding” at ‘The Last Domino?’ Tour Opener (First Performance Since 1984)

Earlier this week, Genesis began its anticipated North American run of the The Last Domino? reunion tour with a show at the United Center in Chicago, and over the course of the evening the English band delighted the audience with a lengthy set — including a special treat in the form of a song the band hadn’t played live in nearly 40 years.
“Misunderstanding” was a big hit off the band’s 1980 album Duke, but the song hadn’t had a public live performance since 1984 prior to being dusted off for the occasion. Here’s fan video of the performance, Phil Collins manning lead vocals while seated in the middle of the stage due to complications from various health issues, including nerve damage that keeps him unable to play the drums anymore:
As the original tour press release detailed, this The Last Domino? tour run features classic Genesis members Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford, flanked by Nic Collins (Phil’s son) on drums and longtime guitarist/bassist Daryl Stuermer.
What a show! Thank you Chicago for a spectacular start to the North American tour. Genesis will be back for round 2 tonight! 🎸
