Out Now: Elton John ‘The Lockdown Sessions,’ a New Collaborative Album ft. Stevie Wonder, Dua Lipa and Many More (Listen)

Sir Elton John didn’t intend on making The Lockdown Sessions, a new album featuring a number of high-profile collaborations with music stars from across the spectrum, a collection spanning generations and multiple styles.
But today, Oct. 22, it’s here — and it’s an inventive celebration of music that bridges the gap across generations, with mostly entertaining results.
‘The Lockdown Sessions’ is out now!!
This is an album of friendships and collaboration, I’m so proud to have worked with so many incredible & talented artists.
I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it!#TheLockdownSessions pic.twitter.com/i1sqnGfeQr

Among the standout tracks on The Lockdown Sessions is “Finish Line,” his first-ever duet with longtime friend and musical colleague Stevie Wonder:
“I couldn’t be more proud of ‘Finish Line,” said John in a statement about the song. “I’d go as far as to say it’s one of the best records I’ve ever made.”

This was how the legendary musician/entertainer described The Lockdown Sessions when it was first detailed:
The last thing I expected to do during lockdown was make an album. But, as the pandemic went on, one‐off projects kept cropping up and I’ve ended with a selection of really interesting and diverse stuff that was completely different to anything I’m known for, stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory. And I realised there was something weirdly familiar about working like this. At the start of my career, in the late 60s, I worked as a session musician. Working with different artists during lockdown reminded me of that. I’d come full circle: I was a session musician again. And it was still a blast.
The list of collaborators who joined Sir Elton for this project is eye-popping, as well, and includes Dua Lipa, Charie Puth, Surfaces, Gorillaz, Rina Sawayama, Miley Cyrus, Brandi Carlile, Lil Nas X, Eddie Vedder, Stevie Nicks and more. A few of the songs made their way to the masses previously, and are included here as part of the album project.
The track listing:
1. Elton & Dua Lipa – Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)
2. Elton, Young Thug & Nicki Minaj – Always Love You
3. Surfaces feat. Elton – Learn To Fly
4. Elton & Charlie Puth – After All
5. Rina Sawayama & Elton – Chosen Family
6. Gorillaz feat. Elton & 6LACK – The Pink Phantom
