Blown Away By These Music Students’ Rendition of ‘I’m Still Standing,’ Elton John Invited Them to Be His Guests on Tour

In late March, students from the Telford Priory School in Shropshire, England, uploaded a video of themselves performing the Elton John classic “I’m Still Standing.”
As this came about during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s one of those “At Home” video performances we’ve seen so frequently over the past few months … but that doesn’t take anything away from the power of the students’ performance, which includes instruments as well as vocals:
The video has made its way to Sir Elton himself, and this week the legendary singer/songwriter posted a video of his own, thanking the students from Mr. Millington’s class for the effort.
Truly blown away by the performance, Elton also invited them all to be his guests at a show on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, once the pandemic subsides and the tour is allowed to resume in the future:
Very well done, everybody.
And, since “I’m Still Standing” is now in all of our heads once again, let’s revisit the music video for the 1985 single, which was digitally restored in November 2019:
And don’t forget, Sir Elton turns up on Lady Gaga’s new album Chromatica, guesting with the singer on the song “Sine from Above”:
While on the topic of Elton John, be sure to tune in to a free live stream concert event/fundraiser taking place on Friday, July 3, when an all-star team of musicians joins forces to perform Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in its entirety.
