Watch Elton John and ‘Rocketman’ Star Taron Egerton Perform ‘Tiny Dancer’ Together

Each Academy Awards weekend, Sir Elton John hosts an exclusive viewing party/fundraiser for his Elton John AIDS Foundation in Hollywood — and Sunday night’s proved quite special indeed.
With his official biopic, Rocketman, set to hit theaters in May, Elton welcomed the film’s star, Taron Egerton, to the stage. The pair performed the classic “Tiny Dancer,” Elton’s gorgeous piano work accompanied by Egerton’s definitely capable voice:
More on their performance:
During the auction Elton welcomed to the stage actor Taron Egerton, star of the upcoming motion picture film, ROCKETMAN; an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Elton John. Following a short preview of the trailer and a trip to the London premiere on the block, the audience was taken by surprise when Taron suggested an off-the-cuff performance of ‘Tiny Dancer’, and Sir Elton John volunteering from the audience to accompany him on the piano. Guests were brought to their feet as they watched Elton John take his position on the keys while Taron belted out the lyrics to one of his most beloved ballads.
Egerton’s singing ability will no doubt be at the forefront of discussions of Rocketman, which has a scheduled release date of May 31. A recent preview from the film features a few seconds of Egerton singing “Tiny Dancer,” but this performance with Elton on Sunday night is the world’s first official, public demonstration of what he sounds like tackling some of Elton’s most cherished material.
